The Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour is celebrating their 100th Anniversary Exhibition at Teichert Gallery in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Tune in Thursday, September 11 at approximately 7:15 pm Atlantic time (6:15 Eastern time) to view the exhibition and hear the opening remarks and award announcements. NOTE: this video is specific to the Open Water exhibition held in 2025. If you are viewing this in a future year, make sure to review the prospectus for the CURRENT YEAR’s exhibition in which you are entering. Open Water is an annual watercolour exhibition held by the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour (https://cspwc.ca). The exhibition chairs of Open Water, current and past, review common mistakes seen in entries and took questions. As well, we were joined at the beginning by one of the jurors for Open Water 2025 who shared a concise explanation of what makes a painting stand out. (Note, in the interest of separation between juror and potential entrants, our juror left the meeting before any questions were taken.) Further resources for entering or learning more about Open Water 2025 can be found here: https://cspwc.ca/open-water-2025/. This link is the home of the all important prospectus which outlines everything you need to know to submit your entry to the exhibition. Note: in the case of discrepancy between the written prospectus and the verbal discussion contained in the video, follow the rules as presented in the written prospectus.
